As if there were any doubt on the matter.
Not by a long shot, according to Microsoft’s Phil Spencer.
Speaking with The Verge (thanks, GamesRadar), Spencer said the console experience is the “core of what Xbox is about,” and the Windows 10 is just another way for millions of Microsoft users to feel supported.
“I love that console experience,” said Spencer. “It’s obviously the core of what Xbox is about, and Xbox One is our most important gaming device inside the company. There’s no doubt about that.
“We also know there are millions and millions of gamers who access Microsoft [in other ways,] whether it’s Windows, their phone, Skype — it could be many different things every day. As head of gaming inside of Microsoft, I think about how we make sure that all of those customers feel as supported and engaged as the Xbox fans do who own a game console.”
The ability to play Xbox One games on Windows 10 PCs is an effort on the company’s part to broaden the demographics and making things “more inclusive.”
While many of the games are controller oriented, they company is looking at ways to make the content relevant across as many of its platforms as possible. At the same time, Spencer said he is an will remain “100% committed” to Xbox users.
“I fully expect that you’ll see another console from us,” he said. “Our best customers are Xbox console customers, and I want to keep those people engaged both on the Xbox One and anything we might do in the future.
“I don’t want to dilute what the Xbox console customer feels. I want to expand what we’re able to do for more customers.”
Hopefully you weren’t too worried about it.
