Clearly, Microsoft picked a good week for Quantum Break. The old-school single-player experience is augmented by a live action TV show that reacts to your choices, and received generally positive reviews last week. If you’re an Alan Wake fan, you should take a squizz.

There’s little to challenge Remedy on consoles, although Codemaster’s racer DiRT Rally makes its debut (and also hits release version on PC). The only other major triple-A release is a piece of DLC: Star Wars Battlefront‘s Outer Rim.

PC is where it’s happening this week. You may have noticed that huge list of virtual reality games; thanks to the launch of the HTC Vive, Steam will see a sudden influx of new VR experiences. There are many more Viva-compatible games than this first week of new launches shows, since many developers are happy to extend support for multiple headsets to their existing Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear projects. Apart from big hardware launches like this, we don’t expect to be able to continue providing a list of new Steam games; there are just too many to track.

There’s a little bit of love for Vita owners. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy seems perfect for the handheld (pity Ubi doesn’t do cross-buy) and Skullgirls 2nd Encore is a must for fighting fans.

In indie land there are a few releases worth mentioned. Enter the Gungeon is another one of those almost rogue-like top down shooters that tend to go mega. Speed-running shooter Lovely Planet makes its PS4 debut. 1979 Revolution: Black Friday has been the subject of much attention; it’s set against the uprising in Iran.

Oh, it’s not a full release but the Battleborn beta opens on PS4 on Friday ahead of PC and PS4 next week.

As ever, keep an eye on your region’s PlayStation Store update for local PlayStation 3, PS4 and Vita release dates.
