What’s going on here? Even just sorting out what the heck Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is can cause headaches, so let’s just assume the plot makes sense to someone.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue collects up the last few bits of the Kingdom Hearts saga not included in the previous two HD Remix complications – most notably Dream Drop Distance, originally released on 3DS in 2012.

But it also features new material, including a playable sequence linking into and providing a taster of Kingdom Hearts 3. That’s exciting, isn’t it?

If you’re a big Kingdom Hearts fan and played all the original games as they come out, this volume is all you need to prepare for Kingdom Hearts 3. If this is your first time round, though, this one’s probably less important than the previous two releases.

Kingdom Hearts is Tetsuya Nomura’s baby, and his being spread between the Disney series and Final Fantasy may have been a contributing factor in Hajime Tabata taking over Final Fantasy 15. It also explains why the whole thing is as layered and flaky as puff pastry; I mean that with love.
